17 Oct Sweet Beat
…and we’re off!
Or – on – as the case may be.
The Radio
This past Saturday I started my regular weekend gig with 925 The Beat. And I loved every second of it. I have been overwhelmed by the suppport. Like, really. You’ve shown me that personalities matter on radio. That you care about who you spend your time with. And I can’t think of a bigger compliment that being allowed into your home and life – by choice. I promise I’ll try not to dirty the good towels too much.
Since saying goodbye to my great friends at Virgin back in July , I’ve had 3 months radio-free. After over 20 years of being on the air, you might think it was a big adjustment. But if I’m being honest – not so much. I think I needed the time to refresh, renew and remember why I love this business. I guess knowing I was coming back, helped. And by the time my 3 months was ending – I was really ready to get back at it.
The Reason
So, why weekends? Well, over the past few years I’ve been building up my voiceover business. I also started a website for Montreal pet-owners (www.montrealdogblog.com – featured on CTV News later this month!) With a full-time radio gig, it wasn’t unusual for me to be in front of my computer working well into evening hours on my ‘side gigs’. I knew I wanted to commit more time to them (and have my evenings free for Storage Wars marathons on A&E). So now, I can focus my attention during the week on those things and wrap up my week by playing on the radio machine. Plus Barry and I are much closer now. For me, it’s a great balance.
The Request
Starting today, there will be a billboard campaign featuring me. If I’m being honest, it’s flattering to a degree – but I’ve always felt awkward with things like that (how can you not!? My massive dome even massiver all up in your grill?). But as long as I’m out there for the next few weeks – will you do me a favour? If you see one of my billboards – can you take a photo of yourself with it and send it to me (natlauzonvoice@gmail.com)? I’ll post the pics here and then YOU’LL be a part of my billboard campaign in a way, too. Which makes more sense to me, since you’re the reason I’m on the radio machine anyway.
Have a great week everyone!
